On the 2nd of May the global YouTube homepage and many of the local YouTube homepages from various countries will be featuring nothing but parkour videos for a 24 hour takeover. Parkour Generations & our filmmaker Julie Angel have been invited to be guest editors to work with YouTube and present 12 films from the global parkour community. Known as a 'Takeover Day', this event will give incredible new exposure to the grass roots of the discipline and will bring it to a whole new audience. The videos have been selected to show the international nature of parkour and the day-to-day nature of practise as opposed to the media spectacle that is so often given the limelight, and the eclectic range of edits comes from many of the global communities that Parkour Generations has had the pleasure of working with. Tune in on May 2nd..! Monday 28th of April 2008
Today's Off The Wall gathering in central London was another great day, with traceurs coming from all over to brave the rain and share a day of parkour at an excellent training spot. The heavens opened as the group warm-up began, giving everyone a thorough soaking and adding that extra element of fun by making every surface good and slippery... But it dried up later in the day and by then the Jam was in full flow. Check back for details of the May event, to be held as always on the last Sunday of the month. Sunday 27th of April 2008
Archive Footage: Vigroux Brothers In Action Some never-before-seen footage of Team Members Stephane and Johann Vigroux has found its way into a new edit put together by the brothers, which can now be seen online at the Parkour Generations Youtube Channel here. The footage was captured between 2001-2003 in and around Paris and includes some excellent jumps. A fresh edit of more recent action is on its way... Sunday 27th of April 2008
New Traceuse Edit Online: Agota A new short edit of London-based traceuse Agota can now be seen on the Parkour Generations Youtube channel here. Agota began training in the Academy over a year ago and has shown great dedication and drive to progress so quickly, and continues to be an inspirational member of the female parkour community. This particular edit was shot by Parkour Generations' own Forrest, better known for being in front of the camera! The marked increase in numbers of female practitioners over the past couple of years has been great to see, and we know that traceuses like Agota will help to bestow confidence on every woman who wants to find her own way in the discipline. A classic action video of Parkour Generations Team Member Kazuma, never before seen online, has recently been put up by the man himself. Shot in 2001, the video is actually a compilation of two edits with some mass action scenese featuring many of the original Lisses traceurs sandwiched inbetween. Look closely and you will even see a young Stephane Vigroux attempting a monstrous Saut De Bras... The video can be seen here . Wednesday 23rd of April 2008
MySpace Hits One Million Views..! The now-classic Julie Angel film, 'MySpace', featuring Forrest and Dan showing the many possible uses of a tiny piece of urban space in London, has now passed the million-views mark on Youtube. The highly-popular short film has been shown at video exhibitions all over Europe and America, and has always received high acclaim. We would like to thank Julie for her ongoing inspirational work that makes such films possible and opens up the world of parkour to a much wider audience around the world. Go on, give it another watch.. ;) Wednesday 23rd of April 2008
A new film documenting our recent Open Training Day in New York, run by Stephane, Dan and Chris, has just gone online and can be watched in its entirety here. Parkour Generations Coach Alli has just returned from a long trip to Brazil, where he spent much time training with the parkour community there and running some group sessions for the Brazilian traceurs. Finding a lot of enthusiasm and hunger for good knowledge and training methods out there, Alli had a great time and is now back in the UK ready to throw himself back into the action. Another of the coaches, Dom, is currently out in New York helping to spread the good word of hard training and follow up on the seminar we ran there in February. Tuesday 22nd of April 2008
Today's charity photoshoot and press call promotional event for UK Aware's upcoming environmental awareness day in May was good fun and generated some great shots and footage to boot. A couple of eco-friendly electric cars received a bit of a beating, but all for a good cause! The star of the day, however, was a 45'000 year old piece of glacier ice that Brian promptly took to eating. Many thanks to Brian, James, Chris, Alex, Will and Scott for giving of their time so readily: The main event will be on May 10th, where we will be running an open workshop for anyone who wants to try their hand. Sunday 20th of April 2008
