Prince of Persia Promotion

Early November will see us filming a promotional piece for Disney as part of the lead up to the forthcoming and highly anticipated Prince Of Persia movie. The piece will also involve the stunt co-ordinator for the movie, and several international young TV presenters who will be put through their paces in an attempt to learn some of the parkour movements the hero of the game (and now the movie) performs with such ease. There is great enthusiasm for this movie within the community and if done well it should be incredible. More information on the promotional piece here as it comes.

Comfort Zone Project: UPDATE

Our groudbreaking ongoing project with arts group All Change, studying the science of fear, continues this Friday October 31st with the first actual field session to test the procedures that will be utilised throughout the year-long programme. Through the practice of parkour - combined with creative writing, dance, sound and film - young people, artists and scientists will investigate the science of fear and behavioural response when we step outside of our comfort zone. This project involves not only a team from Parkour Generations but also top neuroscientists, geneticists, dancers, musicians and film-makers, and is a real first for the parkour community.

Mirror's Edge Project

Today Stephane, Tracey and photographer Kiell are out scouting locations for some of the upcoming promotional work we are looking at doing for the new blockbuster console game Mirror's Edge by EA Games. Some of the rooftop locations being looked at are quite spectacular, and should create some amazing imagery. Mirror's Edge is set to be a smash hit game, and is entirely based on parkour for the gameplay as you take control of the 'Runner' Faith moving across futuristic city skylines. More news on this project soon.

London Jam: 26th October

This month's Off The Wall gathering is going to be a little odd... we won't be training in an established spot, but rather taking a journey through an area with some neat little training spots nearby... welcome to Edmonton. Anyone wanting to come along should meet at 12:15pm at Turnpike Lane tune station on the Piccadilly Line. We'll begin with a warm-up at the Great Cambridge Roundabout, and then spread out to the varied small training spots around the area... including a nice little river precision! Ace Cafe Display: 25th October

This Saturday night we will be putting on a parkour display at the world-famous Ace Cafe in London as part of an evening dedicated to raising funds for the funeral of Slawomir 'Steel' Galecki, a young traceur who was much loved at the Cafe. Steel was a devoted practitioner, and though his death was in no way connected to his parkour training we are more than happy to help generate the funds necessary to send him home to his family in Poland. Event details for the night can be found here. The public are welcome to attend and watch on this fundraising evening.

Russian Epic..!

Dan has just returned from St Petersburg, Russia, where he was invited to give a presentation to various authorities on how they might implement over there the successful teaching paradigm we have developed in the UK for schools and at risk children. There was also a large parkour festival in the city, organised by some very dedicated and positive practitioners, which involved a seminar for 200 people run by Dan and Danny Ilabaca who was also present throughout the few days. Great to see Mr Ilabaca doing his thing and spreading the message of parkour to all those who are ready to listen, and we look forward to having him on board for RDV3 in December. Huge thanks to all the people in Russia who made the trip such a great experience, especially to Evgeny, Sarah, Julianna, Kiril, Katya, Annya and Albert. We are sure we will be seeing all of them again soon...

From Russia With Love...

Today Dan flies out to St Petersburg, Russia, to present parkour and the ADAPT Certification Programme to the authorities there and discuss the possibilites of implementing the teaching system that has been so successful here in Britain. The UK Government, spearheaded by the City of Westminster, is streets ahead of any other nation when it comes to seeing the benefits of the discipline for reaching out to young people and encouraging them to become active and fulfil their physical potential through parkour. Several other countries are now looking to follow suit as we see the beginning of a truly global movement. More news to follow soon.

Wiltshire Parkour Blooms..

For over a year now we have been running regular workshops and sessions in schools and for the young community in and around Wiltshire and North Wiltshire, often in conjunction with the local councils and Wiltshire Alternative Youth Sports. The result of this has been the development of a very strong scene down there, now backed by the Council in developing a local parkour club, evidence of which is reported on in the Gazette and Herald newspaper. Several of the young individuals, known as Calne Parkour who have attended almost every one of our sessions have become skilled and dedicated practitioners able to inspire others around them. A great example of how the discipline can benefit a young community and generate hugely positive outcomes.
